Writing…

It was a long time back that I wrote a short story named “Excellence at Work”. I still remember that at that time I was still in school. This story that I wrote was part of an assignment our English teacher, Ms Ayesha Khan, gave us.

It was supposed to be a short story but at school a short story (for an assignment) was supposed to be around 300 to 500 words. Then again I was really excited and had the fully formed story in my mind already and penned it for the assignment.

Another reason that this story is kind of close to my heart is that while I was naming the characters of my story, the only names I could come up with were all related to Harry Potter but I kept them anyway.

When I fist started this blog, that story was one of the first pieces of my writing that I published here on Words.

So why going down the memory lane?

Here is why. Just now I was going through these stories (and in some cases entire novels) on Goodreads written by people who are not really authors but have a creative gene in them. Excellence at WorkAfter looking at them I asked myself that why must I not put my work here too? And of course I decided I will. So the first piece of writing I put up there is also Excellence at Work. For this purpose I actually took the pains to make a cover which is on the right.

Now I do not know why but not only did I make this cover, I had my story in to a document and decided that I would upload it in here as a PDF file for anyone to download and read it at their leisure.

I guess, I am simply intrigued by the idea of people out there reading my work.

So here is the PDF for Excellence at Work by Hina Tabassum Khatri for any one to download and read.

  1. Neat blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it from somewhere?
A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would
really make my blog stand out. Please let me know where you got your design.
    Thank you
